My name is Sander Rozemuller, I’m working at Exite ICT in Enschede, the Netherlands.
I’m working in IT since 2007. Since the start, I have had a main interest in everything about Windows monitoring, logging, and alerting. I used many tools which had all the same issues. They are working fine with default performance counters but if you want to do something more than just counters you have to dig into the system. That’s the point I started learning PowerShell.
To this day I’m trying to automate as much as I can. For me, the challenge is to automate anything with parameters as little as possible. Let the system work for you.
But there is more than just writing scripts, building logic apps, and being ‘lazy’ :). Automation is much more than that. I’m working all day to get processes working in the most efficient way. Doing the right things at the right moment in the right order. Every step I keep that in mind. As an extra dimension, it also has to work in multiple environments. At my daily job, I also think about automation strategies and finding a balance between generic and specific.
Automation is much more than just a script
If I do ‘automation’, mostly I work on Azure with Powershell in Azure Functions, PowerShell, Logic Apps, and DevOps. And, I use the REST API a lot. This is because I want to automate directly on the core and don’t want to depend on modules and their dependencies. Here you will find posts about automation with REST API and PowerShell but also subjects about how to use LogAnalytics, and Azure Monitor. Also, I do a lot in Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
At last, I got awarded in the Microsoft MVP Enterprise Mobility category in September 2021.
